The Outsiders - Homeless Project


You will research some homeless websites to look over pictures of the homeless. As you are viewing the pictures, you will create a web with the words that describe the images. You will need to download the web onto your computer, then fill it out and print it to be turned into Mrs Knust.



You may look at the images below, or you may do a search of some images of your own.

Finally, use you cluster web of homeless images to create a poem about homelessness. BE CREATIVE! Use words that evoke pictures in the reader’s mind. Use words that SHOW what it is like to be homeless.

The following is an example of a poem about homelessness:

Sorrow filled eyes,

Eyes filled with hope, hopelessness.

Sleeping on anything,

Sleeping anywhere.

No one to care if you’re sick,

No food,

Nothing warm,

No one to care.

Sorrow filled eyes,

Eyes filled with hopelessness, hope.

3) A poem about homelessness

The poem must include: 1) A title

2) Be at least 8 lines long

3) Use images of homelessness found on the internet sites

4) Use images from Johnny and Ponyboy’s one-week experience of being homeless

5) Use correct spelling and grammar

6) Be neat and legible
